Reviewing trades

Reviewing a trade: grades, mistakes with costs, screenshots and shortcuts

A review grades the process, not the money. Open the Review queue, grade the trade A to F, log the mistakes and what they cost, paste the chart and mark it up, then save and move to the next one. The keyboard does most of it: J and K move, 1 to 5 grade, Enter saves.

What to do

  1. 1

Click Review queue in the sidebar. It lists every trade without a review, newest first, and says "N trades waiting". Click "Start reviewing".

  2. 2

Grade the trade with the A B C D F buttons, or press 1 to 5. The hint says: "Grade the process, not the money. A disciplined loss outranks a lucky win."

  3. 3

Under Mistakes, click a suggestion or type your own and press Enter. For each mistake, type what it cost you if you know it; empty means the trade's P&L.

  4. 4

Paste a chart screenshot anywhere on the page, drop it on the card, or click "Add screenshot". Click "Draw on chart" to mark entry, stop and target.

  5. 5

Add tags, an idea or the strategy, pick a state, rate execution and the day, and write notes. Type @now in the notes to timestamp a thought.

  6. 6

Click "Save & next" or press Enter. The next trade in the queue opens. When the queue is empty you see "Queue cleared. Every trade has a review."

The grade

Five grades: A, B, C, D and F. There is no fixed meaning per letter, because what earns an A depends on your strategy. Set a strategy on the review and its grade criteria from Settings > Strategies show next to the grade, one line per letter. Pressing the same number again clears the grade.

Mistakes and what they cost

Mistakes are your own words. The field offers suggestions in two rows, "Yours" (what you have used, most used first) and "Common" (starters you have not used yet), filtered as you type. Click one or type and press Enter. A rule break on the trade shows a button such as "Log "Revenge trade" as a mistake" so the break becomes a mistake in one click.

Each mistake can carry a cost: "What did it cost you? Optional; empty uses the trade's P&L." Type it in dollars, points, ticks or pips and the dollar value shows next to it. In the stats a mistake counts as the cost you stated, or the trade's net P&L when you left it empty. That is where the "Mistake cost" card on Stats and the insights get their numbers.

Screenshots and drawing

  • Paste anywhere on the review page, drop an image on the card, or click "Add screenshot" and pick files. Several at once is fine.
  • "Draw on chart" opens the markup tools: hand, freehand, line, arrow, rectangle and text, in red, green, blue, black, orange, purple or white for dark charts. Ctrl+Z undoes, Delete removes the selection, Esc closes. Click Save to keep the drawing; it stays editable later.
  • "Remove" deletes a screenshot after a confirm. Deleting the trade deletes its screenshots, see Deleting trades and what happens to screenshots.
  • Save to library keeps a copy in your pattern library that outlives the trade.

J, K, the numbers and Enter only work when you are not typing in a field. The footer of the review reminds you: "J / K to move · 1–5 to grade · ⏎ to save".

Saving, drafts and skipping

  • A review is saved when you click "Save & next", "Save review" or "Update review". Until then an unsaved review is kept as a draft in your browser for seven days, and the page says "Unsaved draft restored." when you come back.
  • Ideas, the risk card and the day type save on their own the moment you set them, not with the review.
  • "skip" on a queue row, or "Skip" on the review, removes the trade from the queue without a review. It stays in the trade list and can be reviewed any time. Skipped trades count as unknown in the stats, never as clean.
  • "Skip all" clears the whole queue after a confirm.
