Actal vs Tradervue: statistics or discipline
Tradervue has been the serious statistician's journal for a long time. If you want MFE, MAE and exit analysis, it is very good. Here is where Actal takes a different road.
The short version
Tradervue if you want the deepest execution statistics and a mentor who reads your journal inside the tool. Actal if you want the statistics to end in a verdict: a grade per trade, a cost per habit, your plan measured, and one thing to fix. Tradervue tells you how you executed. Actal tells you what to do about it.
- You want exit efficiency, MFE and MAE and the full statistical toolkit
- You want a mentor or coach reading your journal inside the same product
- You want a long track record and a large user base behind the tool
- You want discipline graded separately from P&L and an execution score for the week
- You want a dollar cost per mistake and the biggest one on top
- You want your premarket plan filed, closed out and measured
- You want your own risk rules judged per trade and one focus a week
- You want friends and groups with full journal visibility and a board ranked on execution
What Tradervue does well
Tradervue is the journal people recommend when the question is statistical. Exit analysis, maximum favourable and adverse excursion, risk in R, and reports that go deeper than most. It supports unlimited accounts and imports on its paid plans, syncs with brokers, and has a mentor and mentee model built in, so a coach can read a student's journal from inside the product. It has been around long enough that everything works.
Where Actal is different
Tradervue measures execution. Actal grades it. The difference sounds small and is the whole product. An MFE report tells you that you left money on the table. It does not tell you whether the trade was in your plan, whether the size was right, or what "cut the winner early" has cost you this quarter. Actal puts a grade on the decision, a dollar cost on the mistake, and the plan next to the trade so adherence becomes a number.
- Grade per trade, A to F on discipline, with your strategy's criteria as hints. The week gets an execution score.
- Every mistake keeps a running dollar cost. The insights page opens with the most expensive one and the trades behind it.
- Premarket scenarios per market, closed out in the evening, so "traded against the plan" is tracked.
- Risk rules judged per trade. A stop respected counts as kept.
- One weekly focus with live progress, chosen by an engine that ranks rule breaks above everything else.
- Friends and groups see your full journal, comment on trades, and share a weekly board ranked on execution rather than P&L.

| Price (checked September 2026) | Free tier; Silver $29.95 a month; Gold $49.95 a month | Free during beta, founder's price for life after |
Tradervue prices are from its pricing page in September 2026; the free tier is capped at 30 imported trades a month. Actal's import reads sixteen platforms' exports and any CSV.
Improvement, not statistics
Tradervue is built around measurement, and it measures execution better than most. What it does not do, as far as its own site shows, is ask for a plan before the open, close it out in the evening, or run a monthly review with goals. Measurement tells you how you executed. The loop tells you what to do about it, and it has to be a habit the tool enforces or it will not happen in a losing week.
Actal enforces it: plan, closeout, grade, weekly focus, monthly review. The full loop is on the compare page; features shows each screen.

How to try Actal alongside Tradervue
- Export a month of trades from your platform and drop the file into Actal. Duplicates are skipped, so re-importing is safe.
- Add your risk rules and grade the last twenty trades. The insights page will name your most expensive mistake and what it cost.
- If a mentor reads your Tradervue journal, add them as a friend in Actal. They see the full journal and can comment on any trade.
- Run both for a week and keep the one you open in the evening.
How this comparison was made
I coach futures traders one-on-one at Jusell Trading Academy and trade index futures full time. Actal is my product. Tradervue's features and prices were checked on its own site in September 2026; I have not tested every report and the table reflects what their site states.
Questions people ask
Drop in one export. In a minute Actal grades the trades it can, prices the mistakes you tagged, and tells you the first thing to fix. Free during beta, no card.

Full-time index futures trader. Coaches traders one-on-one at Jusell Trading Academy, five students at a time, since 2020. No platform was built for developing traders, so he had his own coaching software built; old students loved it and kept coming back, and Actal is that software turned into a proper journal for what matters.
