About

Joakim Jusell. Trader first, coach second, and the reason Actal grades you instead of flattering you.

I trade index futures full time and coach traders one-on-one at Jusell Trading Academy, five students at a time, since 2020. Not a guru: I trade the same markets every day alongside the people I coach.

How I coach

The academy runs a five-phase programme: Foundation, Habits, Edge, Refinement, Live Trading. Most of the work is not strategy. It is the daily loop: a written plan before the open, a grade on every trade after the close, a price on every mistake, and one thing to change the next week. Students who do that loop honestly get better. Students who track P&L and hope do not.

Why Actal exists

I did not like any platform for developing traders. They were built for tracking trades. So I had my own software built for coaching, around the things I actually work on with students. Old students loved it and kept coming back to it long after we were done. That told me something, so I decided to build a proper journal for what matters. That is Actal: it grades discipline separately from outcome, keeps a running dollar cost per mistake, checks your rules on every trade, measures your plan against what you did, and hands you one weekly focus. The full story.

How I compare tools

Actal is my product, and every comparison on this site says so up front. Prices and features of other tools are checked on their own sites and dated on the page. Where another tool is the better choice for a job, the page says that too. I would rather lose a signup than a reader's trust.
