Edgewonk review (2026): price, features, and who it's for
Edgewonk has been around for over ten years and it's the journal that took trading psychology seriously first. It's also the only big one with a single yearly price. Here's what you get for it, who it's great for, and who should pick something else.
The short version
Edgewonk is a good pick if you like digging into your own numbers and want one flat price with no monthly plans. The Tiltmeter, the edge finder and setup checklists are genuinely useful. If you'd rather be told what to fix than build the reports yourself, or you don't want to pay $197 up front before you know you'll use it, Actal grades every trade on your plan and is free while in beta. I built it, so weigh that.

From Edgewonk's pricing page in September 2026. There's one plan with everything in it: unlimited journals, imports and trades. That works out to about $16 a month, which is cheaper than TradeZella or TraderSync, but you pay it all up front.
What Edgewonk does well
- The Tiltmeter shows how often you break your trading rules and how disciplined you are.
- The edge finder scans your performance and mistakes every Sunday, on its own.
- Setup checklists: you tick which criteria were there on each trade and see which ones actually make money.
- Missed trades tracking, which almost no other journal does. The trades you didn't take are part of your edge too.
- The trade management optimizer and performance simulator, for testing how different exits would have done.
- Session report cards, weekly and monthly reports, MAE and MFE, drawdown and losing streak analysis.
- Read-only sharing with a mentor, which you can revoke at any time.
Where it falls short
- You pay $197 before you've built the habit. The 14-day refund helps, but most people know within a month, not two weeks, whether they'll keep journaling.
- It's deep. That's great if you like analysis and a lot to learn if you don't. The traders I coach who struggle most rarely want more reports.
- It gives you the tools and expects you to read them. It won't set one thing to fix this week and track it for you.

Where Actal is different
Edgewonk and Actal agree on the problem: P&L is the result and behaviour is the cause. Where we differ is the answer. Edgewonk gives you instruments. Actal gives you a verdict. Every trade is checked against your own rules and graded A to F on how well you followed your plan, each mistake keeps a running dollar cost, the most expensive one becomes your focus for the week, and you plan the day before the open and close it out at night.
It's free while in beta, and it imports from thirteen platforms or any CSV. What it doesn't have yet: live broker sync, backtesting, replay or a simulator.
