Changing your timezone, display name and email
Your display name and timezone are in Settings > Profile. The timezone follows your computer by default; pin one if you trade on a VPS or travel. Your email cannot be changed from the app yet, and there is no password reset page. Ask from the Feedback page and the founder sorts it out.
What to do
- 1
Open Settings and click the Profile tab.
- 2
Type your name under Display name. It cannot be left empty.
- 3
Under Timezone choose "Follow this computer" or "Pin a timezone" and pick the zone from the list.
- 4
Click Save. The page says "Saved."
Timezone
"Follow this computer" reads your browser's zone every time you open Actal and saves it, so a laptop that moves between countries moves the journal with it. The option says "Right now that is" and the zone it sees. "Pin a timezone" fixes one zone until you change it; the help text says it is for trading a market from a different zone, or a VPS. The list holds UTC, New York, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Zurich, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney, plus whatever you had pinned before.
The timezone does two things. It is how every time is shown, and it is how a bare time in an export is read when the file carries no zone of its own. Changing it later changes how times are shown; it does not re-read files you already imported. It does not decide which day a trade counts on; that is the trading day setting on the same page.
Display name
The display name is what friends, group members and public trade cards show, and what the sidebar shows next to your initials. At signup it is the name you typed, or your Google name, or the part of your email before the @. A feedback report keeps the name you had when you sent it. There is no username or handle, and no avatar; the sidebar shows your initials.
Email and password
- Email: there is no form to change it yet. Send a question from the Feedback page saying the new address, and it is changed for you.
- Password: there is no change or reset page yet. If you are locked out, email hello@actal.io from the address on the account.
- Google sign-in: your email is your Google account's. You can still edit the display name.
- Signup asks for a name, an email and a password of at least 8 characters, then sends a confirmation email: "Check your email to confirm your account."
Deleting your account
There is no delete button in the app. Ask from the Feedback page or by email and the account and its data are removed for you.
